The owners of Leatherby's Family Creamery, an ice cream shop in California, donated thousands of dollars to support Proposition 8, which prohibited gay marriage in California. Recently they have faced picketing, harassment, threats, and other ugly results from extreme members of the pro-gay-rights community.

Iron Curtain is gone, but Communism remains
Almost two decades after the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe, its anti-Christian influence remains, preventing Christianity and the fruit associated with it to spring up again.

Pro-lifers arrested- sidewalk not public property!
Nine pro-lifers from the Survivors Campus Life Tour were arrested on the sidewalk outside a Birmingham, Alabama high school. The sidewalk was not public property for “non-citizens of Birmingham,” according to a policeman. The nine believe that their arrest was over the content of their message.

Waiting for legislation after tragedy
Eluana Englaro, an Italian woman in a coma for 17 years, was starved to death when her feeding tube was removed. Legislation dealing with end-of-life situation was being prepared beofre her death, and it's still under preparation. http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=1934
Holocaust denial update
Though Holocaust-denying Bishop Richard Williamson had his excommunication (which was unrelated to his views on the Holocaust), lifted recently, several bishops are underscoring the spiritual harm and historical inaccuracy of denying the Holocaust. In fact, it may be a sin to do so. http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0900582.htm

Why Bill Ayers?
Bill Ayers, the former domestic terrorist and member of Weather Underground, who wished he had set more bombs, was invited to speak at a Catholic college (St. Mary's Moraga in California) on January 28th.
Why? Any coherant ideology one can get from him is not a bit Christian.

Abortion horror story
It may not be the norm, but it probably happens from time to time, and in this specific case we know for sure- a baby born alive and healthy was quickly tied up in a biohazard bag and thrown in the trash.
Sycloria Williams had scheduled an abortion but the abortionist was late, and this is what happened instead. Did Sycloira Williams get the choice of keeping her baby after the abortionist messed up??

Holocaust denial controversy
An excommunicated traditionalist bishop (Richard Williamson) from the controversial Society of St. Pius X, who minimalized and denied the atrocities of the Holocaust, was welcomed back into the Church by Pope Benedict XVI on January 21, 2009.
This has caused a stir- the German Chancellor demanded that the Vatican clearly state the harm of denying the Holocaust. This the Pope has done more than once.
Some (such as the Jewish radio talk show host Steve Malzberg) are not satisfied. Malzberg complained about the lifting of the Bishop's excommunication on his show on February 3. He suggested that perhaps it should not have been lifted at all, due to his Holocaust statements.
However, his excommunication- and its lifting- bore absolutely no relation to his Holocaust statements. It is not usually the Church's practice to excommunicate over statements or actions unless they conflict directly with the teachings and laws of the Church. Bishop Williamson was excommunicated because he accepted ordination against papal orders.

Vatican Official Blames Bishops for Obama's Win
The pro-abortion Barack Obama won with 54% of the Catholic vote. A high-ranking Vatican official, American Archbishop Raymond Burke, places the blame squarely on the ambiguous “Forming Consciences For Faithful Citizenship,” an election document published by the United States Council of Catholic Bishops.
The document mistakenly made it look like it anyone could morally vote for anyone he liked. In fact, voters may not properly downplay a "fundamental moral evil" like abortion and vote for Obama.
